Who We Are

Tennessee Valley Pediatrics was established in 2003. We specialize in pediatric care in children from birth through high school. We keep your children healthy with well child check ups but if they get sick, we are here to provide excellent and proven care and make them feel better.

We have 3 physicians and 8 nurse practitioners plus 3 additional nurse practitioners that help on the weekends. All of our physicians are board certified in pediatrics. If you would like to see a certain provider, you may ask when you call and we will try our best to schedule you with them especially for well child visits.

We have two clinics to better serve our patients. All ages can be seen at our main office in Tuscumbia. If our adolescents would like a more mature setting, they can go to our Adolescent Clinic in Sheffield. There are a few visits that require one setting or the other because of equipment or other factors but we will let you know that when you schedule an appointment. All of our providers rotate through both clinics. We have full access to your child’s chart at both clinics.

We do not promise you an antibiotic with every visit because every illness does not require one nor is it in the best interest of your child to get one but we do promise to support our parents and caregivers to help our patients feel better in the best way and as soon as possible.

We are a pro-vaccine office and we go by the CDC vaccine schedule because it is the schedule that has research to support it.

We promise to treat your children as our own. We would do the same thing for your children as we would do for our own children.

We love our local community. Here are few things we’ve been involved in lately
• Sidney’s Safe Foundation – our office supports SSF who sends food home in backpacks with children who would otherwise not eat at home.
• Shine Your Way – we sponsor and volunteer at this annual event that honors one of our patients. This organization helps local families who have to travel with medical conditions to Birmingham and other places with expenses like food and gas.
• The Helen Keller Festival-our office usually sponsor’s Imagination Station and helps with worship in the park. You can usually find us at a booth in Imagination Station
• Give-A-Kid-A-Chance – We provide medical care for this event where children receive backpacks and new clothes for school, medical screenings, and haircuts.
• WinShape Camps – We partner with Chick-fil-A to bring WinShape camps to the Shoals. We sponsored children for this awesome summer experience and had staff and nursing volunteers.
• We support more school sports and fishing teams, bands, cheerleaders, and other organizations than we can name here. Throw in donations to education foundations and you can see we love our local schools.
• The Muscle Shoals Career Academy – we do job shadowing and co-op programs for students.

We Believe Community Goes Even Further

There are always students in our office. We train nursing students, nurse practitioner students and medical students. We feel it is our responsibility to pass on the knowledge and experience we have been given. These students end up all over the United States.

We are a corporate partner with an organization in Haiti called Disciples’ Village and work with them to bring medical care to Haiti. Last year we led a team on a medical mission and treated over 600 patients in a week. Dr. Melvin will lead another team in spring 2018. We are always accepting donations for this mission for medical supplies and medications.

You'll be glad to know that we're active in area charities and local education.

In our newborn care services, we help parents of newborns to learn more about immunization and importance of breast milk and other health issues.
